The future of diabetes starts with Voices in Action

We are a global community raising the voices of people living with diabetes.

Why we exist

One in 10 people worldwide live with diabetes

Yet every day, decisions that shape treatment and care are being made without us.

When the voices of people with lived experience are sidelined, actions to improve the health and quality of life for 830 million people fall short.

We’re here to make sure they go the distance.

How we work

Putting lived experience first

VIA Diabetes is building a world where the meaningful engagement of people with lived experience is a non-negotiable part of research, policy development, and decision-making.

By raising the voices of our community, we can:

  • Keep diabetes high on global and public health agendas
  • End the double standards of care in and between different countries
  • Make sure people living with diabetes have everything they need to live well.

What began as a single online event is fast becoming a worldwide movement.

Adrian Sanders

"The one thing I’d like them (medical professionals) to ask me, is “How are you feeling?” Because then you can talk about lots of things that are the side effects of your diabetes."

Adrian Sanders, Former UK MP and Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Diabetes

"This condition has taught me something about self-belief which I don't know I would have had without it."

Princess Padmaja Kumari Parmar, Princess of Udaipur, India
